Lesson Contents & Objectives:
The curriculum is built based on six key areas; which complies with MOE syllabus,
Reading and Viewing
Focus on reading comprehension, vocabulary, and inference skills.
Students engage with a range of texts: stories, poems, informational texts, and visuals.
Emphasis on reading aloud, silent reading, and understanding themes/messages.
Close guidance in comprehension passage analyzing, understanding and answering skills.
Writing and Representing
Students learn to write various text types: narratives, recounts, reports, procedures, letters, and more.
Lessons focus on:
Grammar and sentence structure
Spelling and punctuation
Planning, drafting, editing and publishing
Visual and multimodal texts are also used to develop representational skills.
Listening and Viewing
Developing the ability to understand and respond to spoken instructions, stories, or audio clips.
Focus on identifying main ideas, details, and implied meanings.
Speaking and Representing
Students practice oral communication through activities.
Emphasis on clear pronunciation, tone, expression, and confidence.
Grammar and Vocabulary
Systematic teaching of tenses, parts of speech, sentence structures, and subject-verb agreement.
Vocabulary is expanded through themes and contextual use.
Phonics and Word Recognition
Focus on phonemic awareness, blending, segmenting, and sight word recognition.
Helps build fluency and decoding skills for early readers.
Pick up examination skills through regular tests and revisions.
Teaching Approach
Our English tuition classes focus on building Vocabulary and Grammar as they are the fundamental skills and knowledge for students to excel in the different components of the English Paper.
With our small group tutoring (not more than 7 students), students’ work will be evaluated and commented on. Our tutors will provide professional guidance to help them excel in English.
Assessment Approach
Assessments are both formative and summative, and cover:
Reading comprehension (open-ended and multiple choice)
Grammar and vocabulary cloze
Composition writing
Oral exams (reading aloud and picture discussion/conversation)
Listening comprehension
